Waves ////// Land
The image of repetitive patterns, reflections of a surrounding view, depicting an abstraction of the structure and movement of the surfaces of waves, water and landscape, making one line mimicking another with a slight variation in each.
I use silversmithing techniques as a method to explore the material. By using the hammer, I make translations of the quick lines from drawings into the silver sheet to create surface and to give shape to physical qualities of the material. For the waves series I have used chasing punches to draw reliefs in the metal.
Waves/Land series is a work that spans from a project in 2015 when I visited Easter Island and the Pacific Ocean in the project ‘Everyone and Everywhere is an Island’ together with Märta Mattsson and WALKA Studio. The project was supported by The Swedish Arts Grants Committee.
